Plant Info

Ratibida columnifera, commonly known as Prairie Coneflower, is a hardy North American native perennial known for its distinctive drooping petals and tall, cone shaped flower centres. Blooming from early summer into fall, its flowers range from golden yellow to rich reddish brown and provide an excellent source of nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The wispy, finely divided foliage gives the plant a delicate appearance that blends beautifully with prairie grasses and other native wildflowers. Prairie Coneflower is an excellent choice for naturalized landscapes and pollinator gardens. The seed heads also provide food for birds later in the season, adding wildlife value well beyond the flowering period.

Culture

This plant is grown in a soiless media in a 3.5" pot. When planting, do not plant any deeper than how the plant is in it's pot. When mulching, do not put mulch all the way up to the plant, make a "bowl" shape in your mulch around the plant.
