Papaver orientale 'Prince of Orange', commonly known as Oriental Poppy, is a striking perennial that produces large, neon orange flowers in late spring to early summer. Its deeply cut, hairy foliage forms a low mound and often goes dormant after blooming, making it a great companion plant with later emerging perennials. Oriental poppies are well adapted to sunny, well drained gardens and can live for many years once established. The showy blooms attract bees and other pollinators, adding colour and wildlife value to the landscape. All parts of the plant are considered toxic if ingested and may cause stomach upset in people, cats, and dogs, so it should not be eaten.

Watering needs: Moderate; prefers evenly moist, well-drained soil but tolerates short periods of drought once established. Water deeply and infrequently while the plant establishes. Does not tolerate standing water.

Culture

This plant is grown in a soiless media in a 2L pot. The coco liner on top of the soil reduces moisture loss and prevents the growth of weeds within the pot. It is 100% organic coconut fiber and has no synthetic materials.  When planting, you can keep the liner below the plant and it will break down and enhance the soil over time. Please do not bury the liner in the soil or under mulch. Only apply mulch up to the soil liner.
