Papaver orientale 'Beauty of Livermere', commonly known as Oriental Poppy, is a stunning perennial that produces large, satiny scarlet-red flowers with dark centres in late spring to early summer. Native to the Caucasus region and parts of western Asia, it forms attractive mounds of deeply divided, fuzzy green foliage before naturally going dormant after blooming. The vibrant flowers attract bees and other pollinators, while the decorative seed pods provide lasting interest well into the summer. This long-lived perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, becoming more impressive with each passing year once established. Its bold blooms make an eye-catching addition to borders, cottage gardens, and cut flower arrangements. All parts of the plant are considered toxic if ingested and may cause stomach upset in people, cats, and dogs, so it should not be eaten.

Culture

This plant is grown in a soiless media in a 2L pot. The coco liner on top of the soil reduces moisture loss and prevents the growth of weeds within the pot. It is 100% organic coconut fiber and has no synthetic materials. When planting, you can keep the liner below the plant and it will break down and enhance the soil over time. Please do not bury the liner in the soil or under mulch. Only apply mulch up to the soil liner.
