Plant Info

Monarda fistulosa, commonly known as Wild Bergamot or Bee Balm, is a fragrant North American native perennial that produces clusters of lavender pink flowers from mid to late summer. Its nectar rich blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and many other pollinators, making it an excellent choice for wildlife friendly gardens. The aromatic leaves have a pleasant minty fragrance when crushed and have traditionally been used to make herbal teas (always do your own research before using plants medicinally). Wild Bergamot spreads gradually by underground rhizomes, forming attractive colonies that work well in prairie plantings, pollinator gardens, and naturalized landscapes. It thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and is tolerant of drought once established.

Culture

This plant is grown in a soiless media in a 3.5" pot. When planting, do not plant any deeper than how the plant is in it's pot. When mulching, do not put mulch all the way up to the plant, make a "bowl" shape in your mulch around the plant.
