Dalea purpurea, commonly known as Purple Prairie Clover, is a beautiful North American native perennial that produces dense spikes of rosy purple flowers from early to midsummer. The tiny flowers bloom in rings that gradually move up each flower spike, creating a distinctive display and providing a long-lasting source of nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Its fine, fern like foliage gives the plant a soft, airy appearance and blends well with other prairie species. As a member of the pea family, Purple Prairie Clover forms a partnership with nitrogen fixing bacteria, helping improve soil health naturally. It is exceptionally drought tolerant once established and is an excellent choice for prairie plantings, pollinator gardens, and naturalized landscapes.

Culture

This plant is grown in a soiless media in a 3.5" pot. When planting, do not plant any deeper than how the plant is in it's pot. When mulching, do not put mulch all the way up to the plant, make a "bowl" shape in your mulch around the plant.
