Oregano is a hardy herb grown for its aromatic leaves and clusters of small pink to purple flowers that bloom from mid to late summer. It is widely used in cooking and adds a rich, savoury flavour to many dishes. The fragrant flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, making oregano an excellent addition to herb and pollinator gardens. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, becoming drought tolerant once established and requiring very little maintenance. Oregano spreads gradually to form a dense, attractive groundcover and can be harvested regularly throughout the growing season.
